Panel: Hydrogen Fuel Cells as Sustainable Power Sources – The E2P2 Pledge for a Greener Future

Hydrogen fuel cells are recognized as a clean power solution that can help achieve the European Commission’s goal for climate-neutral data centers by 2030. In practice, however, their application is still very limited. The EcoEdge PrimePower (E2P2) proof-of-concept initiative aims to develop the authoritative open standard for fuel cell applications, paving the way towards the commercialization of fuel cell energy for data centers and other energy-intensive industries.

Funded by the European Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the E2P2 Tech Consortium explores an innovative integration of solid-oxide fuel cells (SOFC) with uninterruptible power supply (UPS) technology and lithium-ion batteries to provide resilient and clean power data centres and other critical infrastructures. At the heart of this vision, is a market-oriented approach that integrates innovation and stakeholder engagement to maximize acceptance and uptake opportunities of stationary fuel cells as reliable, efficient and decentralized power sources for industrial-scale applications.

Join E2P2 members Equinix and Vertiv to learn more about the future of hydrogen fuel cells and how they can help achieve carbon reduction targets for the data center industry and beyond.
